Celebrating Earth Day: UDC Hosts Ardor Day & STEM Open House

As the world’s climate is changing, one thing remains consistent: the University of the District of Columbia’s space for creating education and for community engagement never changes. This month, UDC’s College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) invites its students and the public to an Open House in celebration of the upcoming Earth Day, Arbor Day, and STEM.

The slogan on the poster, “Our Power, Our Planet,” indicates that we all have a responsibility for the environment and for caring for it so it can grow and flourish in the long run. It’s not just one group’s responsibility. We must all care for the planet that we call home. It begins with recognizing the problem and fixing it through action.

The Open House presents an opportunity to get out of the classroom and explore the outdoors with hands-on activities and interactive tours. With these activities and tours, students and community members can explore what work is happening within the CAUSES major, from learning about agriculture to researching the environment. This event was created to inform the community and make it interesting and fun, showing how science and sustainability come together to create a better Earth.

The CAUSES Open House was created to explore the connection among people, the environment, and science. As Earth Day and Arbor Day approach, they remind us of the earth and of the contents we possess and interact with every day. What this Open House does within UDC is present an invitation to learn about the earth and to interact with activities that can help us care for it.

You can currently RSVP for the event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on April 25, 2026. And it is free admission. If you have any questions or are confused about the event, please email causes@udc.edu. And to register for the event, click here.
