The annual event is convened by UDC Career Services, which offers students information about jobs opportunities, career readiness preparation, and more. Career Services is located on the Van Ness Campus.

“Visiting Career Services helps students connect their education to their future. Whether they’re exploring career options, building a résumé, preparing for an interview, or searching for internships and jobs, students can get personalized guidance and practical tools to move forward with confidence,” said Dr. Nicole Roberts Jones, Career Services Director.

Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors came ready to network, learn, and pursue career options with resumes in hand, and a positive attitude. UDC seniors who will soon earn their diploma, shared their perspectives as they approach graduation day soon. Senior psychology major Santiago Castilla said the career fair was helpful. “I have wider opportunities at the career job fair. It helps me build contacts and [get] more opportunities to meet someone inside a company.”

Zarah Lopez, a Freshman Mechanical Engineer major said she attended to “jumpstart my experience, my resume, my skills, and learning anything that will help me in the future. I’m just exploring options. I am interested in anything engineering.”

Derrel Green from Ellucian, a higher education tech firm, offered its Student Career Accelerator Workshop. “Among the things we are offering today, number one is the Student Career Accelerator. We know that UDC prioritizes postgraduate opportunities so we want to help students with their resumes,” said Green.

The options at the Career Fair were plentiful for students to discover, explore, learn, and prepare for today and the future.  “The career fair opens doors by bringing opportunities directly to our students instead of simply applying online and hoping their resume gets noticed,” said UDC Career Counselor LeShawn Sharp. “Students have the opportunity to meet employers face to face, share their experience and their strengths, and make a personal connection. For some students that conversation can lead to internships, an interview, a job opportunity, or even a connection that becomes valuable later in their career. Most importantly, it allows employers to use and see the talent we have here at UDC and gives our students an opportunity to see that they belong in these professional spaces.”
