As the world’s climate changes, one thing remains consistent: the University of the District of Columbia continues to create spaces for education and community engagement. This month, UDC’s College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences invites students and the public to an open house in celebration of Earth Day, Arbor Day and STEM.

The slogan on the poster, “Our Power, Our Planet,” underscores a shared responsibility to protect the environment and ensure it can grow and flourish long term. Caring for the planet is not the responsibility of one group — it requires collective action. It begins with awareness and continues through meaningful change.
The open house offers an opportunity to step outside the classroom and engage in hands-on activities and interactive tours. Through these experiences, students and community members can explore the work happening within CAUSES, from agriculture to environmental research. The event aims to inform, engage and demonstrate how science and sustainability intersect to support a healthier planet.
The CAUSES open house highlights the connection among people, the environment and science. As Earth Day and Arbor Day approach, they serve as reminders of our relationship with the natural world and the resources we rely on daily. This event invites attendees to learn about the environment and participate in activities that promote sustainability.
The event is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. April 25, 2026, and admission is free. To RSVP or learn more, email causes@udc.edu.
