UDC Spring Events Take Over Campus

From Spring Fling festivities to academic workshops, here’s what’s happening on campus April 13–19.

Students at the University of the District of Columbia can look forward to a full lineup of events during April 13-19, featuring social gatherings, performances and academic opportunities across both campuses.

From student-led activities to cultural celebrations, the week offers opportunities for students to connect, engage and explore campus life.


Spring Fling Week Events

Monday, April 13

The Big Scoop: Ice Cream Social
Time: 2 p.m.
Location: Lamond-Riggs Lobby & Van Ness Student Center Atrium
Students can kick off the week by meeting the new 2026–2027 student leaders, enjoying ice cream, and connecting with peers.

“Fashion in Motion”: A Models Inc. Experience
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Theater of the Arts, Van Ness Campus
This high-energy fashion showcase highlights student creativity and performance through a dynamic runway experience.


Tuesday, April 14

Taco Tuesday Takeover
Time: 2 p.m.
Location: Lamond-Riggs Lounge
A relaxed event offering food and an opportunity for students to socialize.

UDC Chorale Spring Concert
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Theater of the Arts, Van Ness Campus
The UDC Chorale presents “My Soul is a Witness for My Lord: The Choral Music of Phillip McIntyre,” celebrating the release of its latest recording. Special guests include the Laurel High School Spartan Singers. Admission is free.


Wednesday, April 15

Wildin’ Out Wednesday
Time: 2 p.m.
Location: Student Center Heritage Hall & Atrium, Van Ness Campus
Students are invited to take a midweek break with music, activities and campus energy.


Friday, April 17

UDC J’Ouvert
Time: 3 p.m.
Location: Student Center Amphitheater, Van Ness Campus
This outdoor event celebrates culture, music, and community in a vibrant setting.


Saturday, April 18

“The Yard Is Hot” Greek Life Yard Fest
Time: Noon
Location: Greek Row, Van Ness Campus
The week concludes with music, fellowship, and a celebration of campus Greek life.


Academic and Career Events

Tuesday, April 14

Crafting Persuasive and Impactful Op-Eds (Part 2)
Time: 2–3 p.m.
Location: Virtual
Led by Associate Professor Craig Wynne, this session focuses on strategies for writing impactful opinion pieces.

UDC Majors Fair — Explore Your Future at UDC
Time: 2–6 p.m.
Location: Student Center, Heritage Hall (Van Ness Campus)
Students can engage with faculty and explore academic programs and career pathways.


Wednesday, April 15

UDC Majors Fair (Day 2)
Time: 2–6 p.m.
Location: Auditorium, Lamond-Riggs Campus
The second day of the fair continues to provide guidance on majors and academic planning.


University Closure

Thursday, April 16
The university will be closed in observance of Washington, D.C. Emancipation Day.
